He made this declaration on Thursday in Ibadan during the Omituntun Ramadan Lecture.
Addressing party members and supporters, Makinde reiterated his commitment to the PDP, emphasizing that he has no intention of defecting.
“My loyalty remains with the party and its principles,” he stated, adding that the PDP should prioritize good governance and delivering tangible results to the people rather than focusing support on any single individual.
Makinde stressed that public service should remain the central concern of every political actor.
His remarks come amid speculation about possible defections and realignments within the PDP as politicians position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor also highlighted the importance of unity within the party. While acknowledging that governors and other leaders have the right to make personal political decisions, he emphasized that such choices should not undermine the party or weaken its structure.
“Internal matters must be managed in a way that keeps the PDP strong and focused on its responsibilities to Nigerians,” Makinde concluded.
