He made this statement on Friday during the finals of the inaugural Basic Education Schools Sports (BESS) held at the Olubadan Stadium in Ibadan.

Represented by the State Commissioner for Education, Abdulwaheed Adelabu, the governor referred to youth as a dynamic segment of the country’s population, emphasizing the need to nurture them through sports to develop the resilience required to thrive in a competitive world.

He expressed his administration’s commitment to sports development and its determination to encourage youth participation in grassroots sports.

Governor Makinde highlighted that the primary objective of the competition was to hone the skills of the students and identify emerging talents among them at the grassroots level. This would enable them to represent the state in national and international competitions.
