Makinde conveyed this decision on Wednesday and encouraged commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators in the state to promptly enroll in the Oyo State Residents’ Registration Scheme before December 31, 2023.

The announcement followed the state’s security council meeting, during which Makinde emphasized the need to address the challenges associated with commercial motorcycle and tricycle operations to enhance overall security.

Effective January 1, 2024, Makinde declared that unregistered motorcycle or tricycle operators would be barred from operating in the state.

He underscored the mandatory enrollment of all commercial motorcycle and tricycle riders in the state’s registration scheme.

The registration process will involve capturing biometric data, including names, motorcycle registration numbers, next of kin details, and other essential information for comprehensive documentation.
