Bologi clarified that the Governor’s ongoing tour across the state has been peaceful and without incident. He said, “The convoy of the Governor has been smoothly touring ongoing projects in the Niger North Senatorial District since last week. There have been no attacks or threats to the Governor’s safety or that of his team.”
The statement aims to dispel any concerns over the Governor’s security amidst false reports of an attack.
Bandits Kill Police Escort, Abduct Former Lawmaker
In a separate incident, former lawmaker Joseph Haruna Kigbu, who represented Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was abducted by suspected bandits while traveling to Jos on Monday. The abduction occurred around 6:00 p.m. between Nunku in Akwanga Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, and Gwantu in Sanga Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
During the attack, the bandits shot and killed the police escort assigned to Kigbu, who had attempted to resist the abduction. Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen fired sporadically, sending motorists in the area into panic. Local villagers confirmed the incident, noting that the area has long been a hotspot for criminal activities.
The abduction of Dr. Kigbu and the killing of the police escort highlight the ongoing security challenges in the region, prompting calls for enhanced security measures.
