Governor Sanwo-Olu Approves N375,455 Bursary Awards For Lagos State Students Nationwide

During a stakeholders’ meeting, Abdur-Rahman Lekki, the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Scholarship Board (LSSB), emphasized the government’s strong commitment to advancing education in the state.
The allocated funds include N164.5 million, covering fresh scholarships for undergraduate, masters, and PhD students (Batch B) for the 2021/2022 academic year, subsequent scholarships for undergraduates and PhD students for the same academic year, and the Governor’s Discretionary Awards for the 2022/2023 academic year.
Additionally, N210.955 million has been allocated, comprising fresh bursary awards for undergraduates and Law School students (Batch B) for the 2021/2022 academic year, subsequent bursary awards for undergraduates for the same academic year, and subsequent bursary awards for the 2022/2023 academic year.
The Executive Secretary assured beneficiaries awaiting disbursement that the release of funds will promptly commence as soon as the necessary administrative processes are concluded.
Lekki also hinted that the application process for the 2022/2023 new scholarship and bursary awards has been completed, with academic and indigenship verification processes set to begin. He encouraged students to regularly check their emails for updates.
Furthermore, Lekki disclosed the board’s plan to introduce specialized scholarship categories targeting individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, vulnerable populations, and persons living with disabilities.
This initiative aligns with the intensified emphasis on social inclusion, gender equality, and youth empowerment as highlighted in Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ agenda.
