Governors Advocate For Dialogue And Peace In Plateau

Abdulrazaq, accompanied by other governors, expressed the NGF’s profound sorrow over the security breaches in Plateau, which have resulted in numerous casualties. The governors visited to offer their support to Governor Mutfwang and the people of Plateau. Speaking on behalf of the NGF, Abdulrazaq stated, “On behalf of the NGF and the people of our various states, I bring you heartfelt condolences on the tragic loss of many of our fellow citizens.”

The NGF Chairman commended the swift response of security agencies to the attacks and urged key stakeholders in Plateau to rally behind Governor Mutfwang’s efforts to put an end to the cycle of violence in the state. He stressed the importance of collaboration, encouraging leaders across communities and sectors in Plateau to unite for peace.

Abdulrazaq stated, “Leaders must come together to strongly condemn violence in all forms; we call on the good people of Plateau to resolve differences through dialogue, fair negotiations, mutual respect, and understanding.”

The Kwara governor also highlighted Plateau’s vast potential, particularly in agriculture and tourism, warning that these opportunities could be jeopardized by ongoing violence. “Sustainable development is unattainable in an environment of tension and violence,” he cautioned.

Abdulrazaq praised Governor Mutfwang for taking proactive steps to prevent further incidents and assured him of the NGF’s continued support in tackling the state’s security challenges.

In his response, Governor Mutfwang thanked the visiting governors, noting that their support had provided him with additional strength to continue working towards the safety and security of Plateau’s citizens. He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the federal government’s assistance during the crisis.

Governor Mutfwang stressed the importance of bolstering border security, suggesting that the recent attacks were primarily carried out by foreign perpetrators.
