Allegations surfaced that the grandmother, upon learning of the birth, took the newborn away and later informed the mother that the baby had died. Despite offers from individuals willing to adopt the child, the grandmother was accused of ending the baby’s life.

A neighbor, speaking anonymously, disclosed witnessing the grandmother burying the baby alive in their backyard. Despite efforts to intervene, the baby had tragically died before rescue attempts could be made.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the grandmother had been apprehended. Investigations revealed that the baby was buried alive and had succumbed to the ordeal.

The teenage mother, aged 17, is currently in police custody, not as a suspect, but for care and support.
