Police in Lagos State apprehended Fatimo Ganiyu, a grandmother, on April 17, on suspicion of confining her young grandchildren in her residence in the Ikotun locality of the state.

Neighbors in Agodo Egbe Ikotun raised concerns and alerted the Divisional Police Officer at the Ikotun police division about the situation. They reported that Ganiyu had locked up her three grandchildren, comprising two boys and a girl aged between two and four, within her home.

Promptly responding to the report, the DPO mobilized a team of officers to the location. Upon arrival, they found the children in a state of poor health and malnourishment.

Ganiyu has been taken into police custody, pending further investigation, while the rescued children are undergoing necessary medical treatment and receiving care.
