Prince-Adewole, who led one of Tinubu’s support groups in Rivers State during the election, commended the President’s choice of Mr. Okocha for the new NDDC Board.
He asserted that the former Rivers Chief of Staff had labored earnestly and made substantial contributions to secure the victory of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the presidential election in Rivers State.
The President of GNAF dismissed those opposing Okocha’s appointment as ill-informed and audacious. He further accused APC leaders in the state who are loyal to former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, of rejecting him when he attempted to promote Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s candidacy to the people of Rivers.
Prince-Adewole stated, “I genuinely commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for being an attentive leader. He heeded our pleas for Chief Tony Okocha to be rewarded for his unwavering dedication to the success and eventual triumph of the APC in the presidential election in Rivers State by appointing him to represent Rivers State on the NDDC Board.
“We extend our congratulations to Chief Tony Okocha for his well-earned appointment to the NDDC Board.
“Tony Okocha played a pivotal role and made significant sacrifices to ensure Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election in Rivers State.
“Even when it seemed improbable, he managed to garner support to promote President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s candidacy in Rivers State. Tony Okocha’s name will be etched in gold for his contributions to the success story we are celebrating today.
“So, I can confidently assert that his appointment to represent Rivers State at the NDDC is thoroughly deserved.”
Regarding the criticisms leveled against Okocha’s appointment by certain APC stakeholders in Rivers State, Prince-Adewole remarked, “These self-proclaimed stakeholders who are now making noise were the same individuals we consulted.
I personally approached them, advocating for President Ahmed Tinubu’s candidacy, but they declined, asserting that their leader, Rotimi Amaechi, was in the running. Even after Amaechi lost in the primaries, they still declined to support P-BAT.
“Now, they wish to reap where they did not sow? Tony Okocha was the lone consistent figure among the Rivers APC leaders and stakeholders who persevered and worked tirelessly until the end to ensure President Tinubu’s success in Rivers State. This is not a hidden fact. They should feel ashamed and let those who have labored enjoy the fruits of their efforts.”
