Gunfire And Glory: Abducted Victim Freed As Joint Security Operatives Eliminate Suspect In Anambra

Operatives of the Police-led Joint Security Force from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Aguata, Anambra State, engaged suspected hoodlums in a fierce gun duel during a late-night visibility patrol around Amaokpala on Saturday.

ACCORDING TO BUSHRADIO, the security operatives encountered armed criminals who opened fire upon sighting the patrol team. In response, the officers returned fire tactically, resulting in a 40-minute gun battle. One suspect was neutralized and later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital, while a 26-year-old female kidnap victim was successfully rescued from the abductors.

A press statement issued on Sunday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the recovery of key items from the scene, including one pump-action rifle, 11 live cartridges, a grey Toyota Camry sedan (Reg. No: Lagos-EPE-208-FK), a police belt, a Zenith Bank ATM card, assorted charms, an axe, and a carton of Chelsea alcoholic drink, along with ₦2,700 in cash.

The rescued victim, ACCORDING TO BUSHRADIO, has been debriefed and is currently receiving medical care in preparation for a safe reunion with her family.

In a separate operation, the command also recovered an AK-47 rifle hidden in the roof of an apartment in Ihuowele Ngo Village, Igbo-Ukwu. Preliminary investigations revealed the weapon may belong to a certain Samson, described as a notorious individual and the former occupant of the apartment. He has not been seen since June 2024.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives’ bravery and praised the vigilance of local residents, whose tip-off led to the recovery of the rifle. He emphasized the importance of community-police collaboration in tackling crime, ACCORDING TO BUSHRADIO.
