Gunmen Fatally Shoot Traditional Ruler In Taraba state

Unknown gunmen have perpetrated the tragic killing of Abdulmutalib Nuhu, a third-class chief, in Sensani village, Gasol Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The late Jankada II of Sensani Chiefdom met his untimely demise on the night of Thursday, April 18, 2024, mere hours before the commencement of the Nwonyo Fishing and Cultural Festival, organized by the Taraba State Government in the Ibbi local government area.

Reports indicate that the assailants arrived in Sensani village around 9 pm on Thursday, targeting the traditional ruler’s palace directly, where they fatally shot Nuhu at his residence, situated just a few kilometers away from the festival venue.

Nuhu Sanseni, the deceased chief’s elder brother, recounted the harrowing event, stating that the gunmen, wielding firearms, arrived on motorcycles, executed the monarch, and fled with his mobile phones.

“They arrived in the area around 9 pm last night, went straight to his palace, shot him, and seized his two phones. On their way out, they encountered a young man riding a motorcycle; they also shot him, fracturing his leg before departing the village,” Sansani recounted.

A senior police officer stationed in Sansani confirmed the tragic incident, assuring that law enforcement personnel were actively pursuing the perpetrators.
