Haaland Scores Brace But Sparks Injury Fears As Man City Beat Ipswich 3-2

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has expressed optimism that Erling Haaland has avoided a serious injury after the striker limped off during the club’s 3-2 Premier League victory over Ipswich Town on Saturday, October 17.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Haaland scored twice to help City secure the win at the Etihad Stadium but raised concerns late in the encounter after sustaining a blow to his foot.

The Norwegian forward appeared to struggle as he left the pitch, prompting concerns about his fitness ahead of Manchester City’s upcoming fixtures.

However, Maresca said the striker had reassured him after the match, although the club was still awaiting further medical assessments to determine the severity of the problem.

“We will see. I asked him, and he said he was OK, so hopefully it is nothing serious,” the City manager said.

The Italian tactician also revealed that several other players suffered knocks during the closing stages of the match, potentially creating additional fitness concerns for the Premier League side.

According to Maresca, Matheus Nunes, Mateo Kovacic, Antoine Semenyo and Nico O’Reilly were among those who experienced problems during the encounter.

“Unfortunately, in 10 minutes we had four or five players, Matheus [Nunes], Kova [Mateo Kovacic], Erling, Antoine [Semenyo], and Nico [O’Reilly] also, but they are inside now, and we will see,” he added.

The manager provided no further details about the condition of the affected players, leaving their availability for upcoming matches uncertain pending medical examinations.

Despite the late injury concerns, Manchester City secured all three points against Ipswich, with Haaland’s brace proving crucial to the victory.

The result also marked a significant milestone for Maresca, who, according to the report, became the first manager in Premier League history to win his first seven matches in charge.

Manchester City will now await the outcome of the medical assessments as they seek to maintain their strong start to the campaign, with Haaland’s fitness likely to remain a major concern for the club and its supporters.
