Rufai Hanga, a Senator representing Kano Central on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has revealed how former Lagos State Governor and current Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, invited him to Lagos to discuss the creation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an interview, Hanga boldly stated that without his involvement, the APC would not have come into existence. He shared these details while addressing questions regarding any potential discussions within the NNPP about joining the coalition led by opposition leaders.

Hanga explained that his leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former Governor of Kano State, has maintained a long-standing friendship with Tinubu. He noted that Kwankwaso had initially been invited to join the government based on an agreement, but at some point, the arrangement fell through and Kwankwaso was abandoned.

The NNPP leader added, “We have not made any decisions yet, but within the next one or two months, we will announce our stance. My leader, Kwankwaso, has been a close friend to President Tinubu for many years. Tinubu initially invited him to join the government based on an agreement that was later disregarded, and Kwankwaso was left out. We are grateful that this happened early, before anything progressed.”

Hanga continued, “If not for me, APC would not have existed, and I didn’t receive any financial reward for my efforts. Tinubu personally came to Arewa House in Abuja, invited me to his house, and we sat together in his bedroom to discuss how the APC would be formed.”

He expressed deep respect for Tinubu but criticized his spin doctors, stating, “We’ve had a long history together, but his team doesn’t acknowledge that. It’s all about themselves now, which is unprecedented in this country. While people from different regions have ruled, we’ve never seen a situation where others openly boast that it’s their time, acting with impunity and disregarding others.”
