The Labour Party Candidate revealed he disclosed his genuine intention to run for the highest seat in the office to the Roman Catholic Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Benin City, Most Reverend Dr. Augustine Obiora Akubeze.

In his words, he said: “It was a profound privilege to meet with His Grace, Most Reverend Dr. Augustine Obiora Akubeze, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Benin City. During our meeting, I sought his blessings, prayers, and guidance as I formally informed him of my aspiration to govern the great people of Edo State as their Governor in the forthcoming elections. I also commended His Grace for the remarkable work the Roman Catholic Church continues to do in uplifting the standard of education, healthcare, and other interventions the Church carries out within Edo State.”

Moments after Olumide Akpata worshipped with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Nigeria (CCRN) of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City at the expansive CCRN Centre, Ugbhioko didn’t hesitate to express his heartfelt gratitude race Archbishop Akubeze and the CCRN for their warm hospitality, prayers and advise.
