He’ll Walk Away” — Ali Modu Sheriff Speaks On Peter Obi’s 2027 Presidential Ambition
Former Borno State Governor and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has claimed that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi is driven primarily by his presidential ambition and would leave any political party that does not offer him its presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Sheriff made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television while discussing Nigeria’s political landscape and the build-up to the 2027 general election.
According to the former governor, Obi’s movement between political parties reflects a deliberate strategy aimed at securing a presidential nomination whenever elections approach.
Sheriff said he had made a similar prediction during an earlier appearance on the programme, adding that he believes Obi would continue switching political platforms if he is unable to realise his presidential ambition within a particular party.
He also questioned Obi’s political approach, arguing that anyone aspiring to lead Nigeria should prioritise national unity over regional or sectional interests.
According to Sheriff, effective national leadership requires commitment to the country’s collective interests rather than allegiance to any specific region.
“People like him will never stay in one political party because he’s pursuing an agenda. If he cannot be the presidential candidate, he will move out. I told you this before,” Sheriff said.
He continued, “If you truly want to succeed in Nigeria today, you cannot pursue the agenda of only one section of the country.
“If I, as someone from Borno State, were to come out and say I believe only in Borno and not in Nigeria, then I would not be fit to call myself a Nigerian, because our leaders fought to keep this country together and we stood by them.”
