The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has commended Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for his decision to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Mbah announced his defection on Tuesday, explaining that his move was motivated by the need to align Enugu State with the federal government to accelerate development.

Reacting to the development in a post on his (formerly Twitter) handle, Keyamo revealed that during his visit to Enugu a few months ago, he had told Mbah it would take a miracle for anyone to defeat him in future elections.

He lauded the governor’s developmental drive and described the APC as his natural political home.

“When I came to Enugu a few months ago to launch Enugu Air, I said it would be a miracle for anyone to beat you in future elections. I’m glad you’ve now joined forces with President Bola Tinubu to deepen progress and unity in Enugu and the Southeast,” Keyamo wrote.

The minister further hailed Mbah as the “undisputed leader of Enugu APC,” assuring him that his defection would solidify his political influence in the state.

Meanwhile, Prof. Udenta Udenta, a political strategist and founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), has criticized the recent wave of PDP governors defecting to the APC, describing the trend as an “act of cowardice and gutlessness.”

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Udenta rejected claims that the PDP was collapsing, insisting the party remains strong and rooted in the people, not in politicians who defect for selfish interests.

He explained that his earlier remarks about former President Goodluck Jonathan’s possible political comeback were purely analytical and not based on insider information.

“When I spoke about the former president’s prospects, I did so as a political analyst, not a spokesperson,” Udenta clarified.
“Even if some elites are leaving, the PDP remains vibrant. Its strength lies with the people, not with those whose political greed drives them to the APC in pursuit of personal ambition.”
