High-Ranking Officers Under Arrest: Military Betrayal Rocks Northern Nigeria As Two Aided Terrorists

The Defence Headquarters has revealed the arrest of two security personnel involved in aiding terrorist activities in the North-East.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Director of Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, confirmed that these individuals were part of the hybrid forces working alongside troops to tackle insurgency in the region.

Kangye explained that the arrests took place during operations conducted from April 26 to 29 across Bama, Kukawa, and Madagali Local Government Areas.

Additionally, he mentioned that the arrested personnel were part of a group of four individuals supplying logistics to terrorists, all of whom were detained during the operations.

Describing their actions as a “betrayal,” Kangye urged military commanders to educate their forces on the significance of upholding the integrity of military operations.

“In a well-coordinated operation conducted from 26–29 April 2025 across Bama, Kukawa, and Madagali LGAs in Borno and Adamawa states, troops intercepted four individuals supplying logistics to terrorists. Unfortunately, two were confirmed to be members of the hybrid forces,” the Defence Headquarters spokesman said.

He further stated: “Commanders are instructed to ensure hybrid forces personnel avoid collusion with or support for terrorist activities that could undermine our operations.”

Kangye also reported that in a recent update, troops, in collaboration with hybrid forces, carried out offensive operations, including patrols, raids, and clearance missions across Gwoza, Dikwa, Bama, Chibok, Gujba, Geidam, and Yunusari LGAs in Borno State. These operations led to the elimination of several terrorists, the rescue of six kidnapped individuals, and the recovery of various arms, ammunition, motorcycles, and bicycles.
