Hilda Baci Reveals Fate Of Guinness World Record Jollof Pot

Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has revealed that the custom-built pot used during her Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt for the largest pot of jollof rice will not be sold or auctioned.

Baci made this known after her successful second GWR attempt on September 12, 2025, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos. The historic event drew massive support from celebrities, dignitaries, and royals, including Spyro, Funke Akindele, Enioluwa, Kaffy, Ogun State’s First Lady Bamidele Abiodun, and reality star Alex Unusual.

The chef described the achievement as the product of “nine hours of fire, passion, and teamwork,” noting that it took 1,200 kg of gas to prepare an astonishing 16,600 plates of rice.

Responding to questions about the fate of the pot, Baci explained that it would be preserved as a symbol of history, faith, and innovation, not sold.

She said:
“So many people have asked about that pot. Some even suggested we auction it. But I believe it represents more than just cooking—it is a symbol of history, faith, and innovation. In 10 or 20 years, people should still be able to look at it and say, ‘That was the biggest pot of jollof rice ever made in Nigeria—and in the world.’ We will not sell it. We will not auction it.”

Reflecting on her journey, the 30-year-old chef shared that she began cooking at the age of eight. She admitted jollof rice was once a difficult recipe for her but, through trial and error, she mastered it—eventually creating the recipe that earned her international recognition.

Baci added that her record-breaking jollof recipe had long been a best-seller at her restaurant, fueling her decision to showcase it on a global stage.
