According to Eze, Tinubu’s approach to governance reflects care and forgiveness, contrasting with former President Muhammadu Buhari’s firm stance.
In an interview with AIT on Sunday, Eze praised Tinubu for his inclusive leadership, emphasizing that despite the All Progressives Congress (APC) losing the South-East in the 2023 elections, the President continues to demonstrate goodwill toward the region.
“Kanu’s detention was a result of Buhari’s hardline disposition, not Tinubu. Buhari is a hardliner, but Tinubu has a forgiving spirit and holds no grudges,” Eze stated.
He also lauded Tinubu’s establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), which he believes will address infrastructure gaps and provide job opportunities for youths in the region, thereby alleviating security concerns.
Eze highlighted the significance of the SEDC, noting that it is the first tangible response to the region’s long-standing demands since the end of the Nigeria-Biafra war.
“We owe gratitude to President Tinubu for creating the South East Development Commission. This initiative will transform Igbo lives. The Managing Director, Mike Okoye from Anambra State, and appointees from Imo, Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi states signify a balanced and impactful approach,” he said.
Eze’s comments align with ongoing demands from Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other South-East leaders for Kanu’s release, as they continue to appeal for the President’s intervention in fostering unity and addressing the region’s challenges.
