Horrific Footage: Politician Allegedly Sends Thugs To Brutalize, Assault Woman And Family Over Refusal To Sale Land (Videos)

In a disturbing incident in Enugu State, a politician, identified as Simon Atigwe, is accused of deploying thugs to violently attack a woman and her family for refusing to sell their family land to him. A horrifying video circulating online captures the brutal assault, where the victim and male members of her family are seen lying facedown on the floor while thugs mercilessly flog them. The video documents the aftermath, revealing welts on the back of the woman, who suffered alongside her family during the assault. Following the attack, the eldest son of the victimized family was reportedly locked up in his house. Additionally, the lady’s SUV was destroyed by the alleged political thugs.

According to reports, one of the thugs was arrested after the family reported the incident at the police station. However, the situation took a shocking turn when Simon Atigwe allegedly personally intervened and bailed the arrested thugs. The family, fearing for their lives, is said to be in hiding due to alleged death threats from Simon Atigwe.

While videos of the assault have been widely shared, no concrete evidence linking Atigwe to the attacks has been presented. Simon Atigwe previously served as the member representing Igbo Eze North/Udenu constituency at the National Assembly from 2019 to 2023.

The Nigeria Police Force PRO ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi reacted to the assault.

He wrote: “I have just called Enugu command on this. We will need to find out and take necessary action. We will definitely act on the matter. Thanks.”
