The announcement was made on Wednesday in a statement by the monarch’s former Chief of Staff, Rotimi Osuntola, titled “Re: My New Role as Special Adviser to His Imperial Majesty, The Alaafin of Oyo.”

The new appointments come following Osuntola’s elevation to the position of Special Adviser, having served as Chief of Staff from January to early April 2025.

Expressing gratitude, Osuntola stated:

“It is with profound humility that I accept the new responsibility entrusted to me by His Imperial Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, The Alaafin of Oyo, as Special Adviser to the Throne. I consider it a rare honour to serve the royal stool in any capacity deemed fit by His Majesty.”

He reflected on his journey with the monarch, noting his support—financial, intellectual, and moral—from the onset of Oba Owoade’s ascension.

“Serving as Chief of Staff during the monarch’s formative months has been a sacred duty. From assembling a competent team to ensuring a dignified coronation, I have poured my heart into upholding the legacy of the Alaafin.”

The role of Chief of Staff has now been handed over to Mr. Bayo Ajibade, to whom Osuntola extended congratulations and urged for widespread support.
