LAGOS—The housemaid of the late Nick Imudia, former Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian e-commerce giant Konga, has revealed her last conversation with him before news of his recent passing surfaced last week.

According to a close friend of the deceased who spoke with Vanguard on condition of anonymity, the maid disclosed that Imudia had called her the day before his demise, handing her a piece of paper with five telephone numbers, including that of his brother in the United States.

“She mentioned that Nick instructed her to keep the numbers, suggesting they would be needed in due course. Later, she heard the shower running from the bathroom where Nick was believed to be bathing,” the friend recounted.

“Concerned after a prolonged silence, she knocked on the door but received no response and eventually left. Shortly thereafter, a security guard alerted her to an emergency involving Nick. Rushing downstairs, she found him in a distressing condition. Returning upstairs, she discovered the bathroom empty despite the continuing running water.”

Meanwhile, the family, as relayed by the same source, has formally requested the release of Imudia’s body for burial.

In a statement, the family dismissed speculation of suicide, affirming that Imudia exhibited no signs of stress and had never been diagnosed with depression.

Vanguard understands that detectives from the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigative Department in Yaba, Lagos, have scheduled interviews with individuals linked to the case for yesterday morning.
