Hyacinth Alia Declares Authority: ‘I Am The Only Governor Of Benue, Leave If Unhappy

He emphasized that there can only be one governor at a time and, as such, he remains the sole elected choice of the people of the state.
Alia made these remarks on Tuesday during the burial of the late royal father, Zaki Toko Zumbe, Tor Kule Kule, Mbangur, Mbadede, in Vandeikya Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State.
He advised those uncomfortable with his position as governor to quietly leave the state, as he was elected to serve the people.
During his address, the governor declared, “I stand before this gathering to make it clear that there cannot be two governors in the state at the same time.
“I am the only governor, and no one should undermine my authority.
“I want the entire Tiv nation to hear this: anyone challenging my leadership should know that I am the only governor from Kunav land.
“Therefore, if anyone is dissatisfied with my role as governor, they are free to leave Kunav or Tiv land entirely.”
