I Am Not Concerned By Criticism’ – Wike Responds To CriticsNyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has brushed off criticism from detractors, focusing instead on delivering projects approved by President Bola Tinubu. Wike pointed out that if he were inactive as a minister, those same critics would still be attacking him, despite not being able to accomplish anything themselves if given the opportunity. He stated, “Who are those criticizing? I don’t think about that. I am not bothered. Once you have a presidential approval and backing from the National Assembly, what do I care about critics? These are people who, even if you gave them the opportunity, could do nothing.”

He continued, “If you hadn’t done it, they would still be complaining that the environment for our judges is not conducive. Now, you’re working to improve it, and they’ll find another reason to criticize. So, forget about the criticisms. Move on and do your work. I’m not bothered about the so-called criticisms. It doesn’t affect me.”

Wike also expressed satisfaction with the ongoing projects in the FCT, noting that they have provided employment for many young people. He reiterated that under President Tinubu’s administration, creating job opportunities for the youth remains a top priority. “Employment creation is a key focus of the Renewed Hope Agenda. It’s not just about government jobs; it’s about creating opportunities where youths can sustain themselves,” he said.

Wike took pride in the impact these projects have had, particularly in providing employment for local youth. “Look at the number of youths working on these projects. I’m happy to see young people engaged. Imagine if these jobs didn’t exist—what would these youths be doing now? It’s a great achievement to see them employed and contributing,” he added.
