The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has sharply criticized Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro over the ongoing reconciliation efforts within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on Wednesday night during the 106th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting convened by the Abdulrahman Mohammed faction in Abuja, Wike urged his rivals to be transparent about their intentions and warned against secretive political manoeuvres.
“Minority Leader, if you are talking about reconciliation, present your terms clearly so we know. Give concrete proposals, not like last time when you came to me and before I knew it, you were in Ibadan for the convention. I don’t like those who negotiate at night and then make a fuss in the day. Let those who want peace come in the daytime, not under cover of darkness,” he stated.
Wike also affirmed that his faction remains firmly in control of the party machinery. Citing Monday’s Court of Appeal ruling that upheld the current caretaker leadership, he insisted that while his camp is open to reconciliation, it would only happen on their terms as the dominant force.
“PDP will never die. Crises happen, but they are meant to put us in order. Life has stages, and what we are experiencing is a natural process. We are for reconciliation, but it must be genuine,” he added.
Addressing claims that his role in the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration made him a “mole” within the PDP, Wike dismissed the accusations. “Some claimed I was causing problems because I work in an APC administration, yet those accusing me have now joined APC, while I remain in the PDP,” he noted.
Wike also reiterated that the party’s forthcoming National Convention will proceed as planned, rejecting calls to form a new caretaker committee for dissatisfied members. “The party has worked hard to organise the convention—fees have been paid, the venue secured. I will not accept forming another caretaker committee. The convention must hold, and everyone will be allowed to participate,” he declared.
