I Get Scared Whenever Funke Akindele Offers Me A Role – Jide Kosoko Reveals Why

Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has revealed why he sometimes feels apprehensive whenever actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele offers him an acting role, citing her demanding approach to filmmaking and exceptional attention to detail.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Kosoko made the disclosure during an interview on the African A-List podcast, where he praised Akindele’s strong work ethic while explaining the challenges actors may face when working with her.

The veteran actor said Akindele is highly committed to achieving her desired results and can insist on shooting a particular scene as many as 15 times before she is satisfied with the performance.

Kosoko explained that the filmmaker’s attention to detail sometimes extends beyond the actors’ performances to seemingly minor production elements. He recalled instances in which Akindele would decide to reshoot scenes the following day because she was dissatisfied with details such as the plates used during filming.

Describing her as exceptionally hardworking, Kosoko said her energy and dedication were difficult to match, even for a man. He also noted that Akindele is left-handed while sharing his observations about the filmmaker.

“Funke is very hardworking, even if you are a man, you can’t match her energy. She is left-handed. Whenever Funke calls me for a job, I am always scared. You can shoot a scene 15 times,” he said.

He added that Akindele could return to a scene scheduled for the following day and insist that previously recorded footage be shot again because of concerns about the production details.

Kosoko’s comments highlight Akindele’s reputation for maintaining high standards in her filmmaking, with her insistence on getting details right often requiring actors and crew members to repeat scenes until they meet her expectations.

The revelation has also offered a glimpse into the level of commitment and patience required when working with the filmmaker, whose approach places considerable emphasis on achieving the desired quality in her productions.
