Bamidele made the remarks on Saturday in Ikogosi Ekiti during the 2025 Ikogosi Day Celebration and the launch of a ₦1 billion Development Fund, an event attended by dignitaries from across the country.
As the chief officiator, he dismissed criticisms over his alliance with the governor, noting that their relationship is rooted in a shared vision and decades-long friendship, not political convenience. He described Governor Oyebanji as “a man of integrity and humility” who is genuinely committed to improving the lives of Ekiti residents.
“Those upset by my support for Governor Oyebanji should understand that we cannot ignore what is good,” Bamidele said. “By God’s grace, Governor Oyebanji and I have been friends for over 30 years, long before our current positions… our friendship is truly a case of glory supporting glory.”
He reiterated that he has “no regrets whatsoever” in standing by Oyebanji, adding that their collaboration is focused on Ekiti’s development, not political maneuvering. Bamidele highlighted that the synergy between the state’s legislative and executive arms has produced visible projects across all parts of Ekiti.
“When we were elected, Governor Oyebanji invited the nine of us from Ekiti in the National Assembly and shared a list of projects for us to implement,” he said, explaining that while the governor manages state-level projects, lawmakers handle complementary federal-level initiatives.
“That is why in every corner of Ekiti, you will find projects either executed by the state government under Governor Oyebanji or by National Assembly members with his support. Every time I inspect projects, the Governor suspends his own schedule to accompany me. For those criticizing without seeing the benefits to Ekiti, I have no apology to offer,” he added.
Responding, Governor Oyebanji commended Bamidele for his steadfast support and collaboration, calling him “a dependable partner in the Ekiti project.” He emphasized that unity, teamwork, and peace have made governance more inclusive and impactful.
The governor urged Ikogosi residents and the wider Ekiti populace to continue fostering cooperation and harmony, noting, “No community can achieve sustainable growth without unity.”
The event served as a strong display of solidarity between Ekiti’s executive and legislative leaders, setting a positive tone ahead of future political developments in the state.
