I Need Weed To Fight!” – Army General Reveals Sh*cking Soldier Confession

The Commander of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Katsina, Brigadier General Baba Tunde Omopariola, has declared that all military barracks under his jurisdiction are free from drug use.

Speaking at a sensitization lecture titled “Drug-Free Workplace and Community”, organized by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Katsina, the General proudly asserted that his soldiers do not depend on marijuana, narcotics, or any illicit substances to carry out their duties effectively.

He debunked the popular belief that drugs enhance a soldier’s performance in combat.

“Are we not courageous? Are we not trained to be brave? So why would a soldier claim he needs weed to function? That’s completely unacceptable,” Omopariola said.

He recalled an encounter with a soldier who told him, “Sir, I need weed to perform.” The General responded, “Don’t bring that nonsense to me. If you need drugs to function, why did you go through military training?”

Omopariola emphasized that discipline, training, and core values — not substances — define a capable soldier.

“We’ve carried out numerous successful operations without anyone using drugs. Any soldier claiming otherwise should be sent for rehabilitation. If that fails, they should face disciplinary action. We must not shy away from tackling this issue head-on,” he stated.

He also challenged officers to assert leadership boldly, saying, “If you’re afraid of your troops, you shouldn’t be leading them.”

Delivering the keynote address, NDLEA Assistant Commander of Narcotics, Zainab Ibrahim, drew a connection between substance abuse and violent crimes like terrorism and banditry.

“No one in their right mind beheads another person — such acts are often drug-induced,” she said.

She warned that drug abuse shatters lives, families, and institutions and rejected the idea that unemployment is a valid excuse for addiction.
