I Preach Modesty — Deeper Life Bride F!res Back At Critics Of Her Wedding Gown

Published

Akinmoyewa Mercy Oluwaseun, a bride from Deeper Life Bible Church, has responded to criticism over her wedding dress after some conservative Christians and church members reportedly described the outfit as immodest and too revealing.

Mercy, who got married on Saturday, October 10, 2026, addressed the controversy on Sunday night, insisting that her wedding gown was fully lined and that her choice of outfit was deliberate.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the bride took to social media to defend her appearance, explaining that she had carefully considered the design of the dress before wearing it for her special day.

“For your information, I wore a fully lined mermaid wedding dress. I was very intentional about it. I preach modesty, but make una try to dey know fashion small small,” she wrote.

Her response followed online criticism from individuals who questioned whether the gown aligned with their understanding of Christian modesty and appropriate wedding attire.

The controversy has generated discussions on social media about the relationship between Christian values, personal fashion choices and differing interpretations of modest dressing.

While some critics expressed reservations about the gown, Mercy maintained that the dress was fully lined and defended her decision to wear it.

The debate highlights the differing views among Christians on how modesty should be expressed through clothing, particularly during significant occasions such as weddings.
