Raees made this assertion while reacting to Babangida’s newly released book, Journey In Service, which has sparked renewed discussions on Nigeria’s political history.

In the book, Babangida described Abacha as his greatest challenge, alleging that the late Head of State attempted to overthrow him through a coup by spreading false narratives within the military.

Responding via his X handle on Saturday, Raees dismissed Babangida’s claims, stating that anyone who believes the book’s contents is blindly following its author toward destruction.

He wrote, *“Had their lifespans been reversed, such betrayal would never have come from General Abacha. If we are to accept Journey In Service (2025) as Babangida’s self-proclaimed ‘truth,’ then those who believe it are merely following its author into damnation. Babangida’s biggest struggle was never Abacha—who protected both his life and reputation multiple times—but his own mind, which ultimately earned him the title Evil Genius.”
