Reports indicate that Tanshi, who served as the Chief Imam of Dutsen Tanshi Jummaat Mosque, died in Bauchi shortly after returning from medical treatment in India.

One of his close disciples, Abdulhakeem Shaaban Baban Keke, confirmed the cleric’s passing to LEADERSHIP on Thursday night, revealing that Abdul’aziz remained committed to his scholarly work despite his long struggle with illness.

Due to his health condition, Sheikh Abdul’aziz was notably absent during the previous Ramadan sermons and could not lead this year’s Eid prayers, a void keenly felt by his followers.

Tanshi was revered for his dedication to the Sunnah and his firm stance against religious innovations (Bid’ah) lacking foundation in the Quran or Sunnah. His profound knowledge and advocacy for pure monotheism earned him the title “Dr. Tauhidi” among his admirers.

The late cleric’s teachings, characterized by clarity and strong conviction, left a lasting impact on the understanding of Islam among countless believers in Nigeria and beyond.
