The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has issued a stern warning to non-indigenes against making disparaging remarks about Lagos.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released Saturday morning and Wahab condemned what he called intentional attempts by certain individuals—who migrated to Lagos in search of better opportunities—to malign the state’s reputation.
He stressed that those who have benefited from Lagos’s enabling environment should show loyalty and promote the state positively, rather than dragging its name through the mud.
Wahab particularly cautioned social media influencers against using their platforms to push negative narratives about Lagos.
“It is troubling to see deliberate efforts by a few to smear Lagos State’s image. Some people leave their home states in search of greener pastures and, within a short time, begin to attack the very state offering them a lifeline. Using social media influence, they spread damaging messages, often tied to divisive agendas, which harm the spirit of inclusion and progress Lagos represents,” he stated.
While acknowledging the value of constructive criticism, Wahab emphasized that spreading falsehoods and negativity about a state that offers opportunities to millions is harmful and unproductive.
“Lagos is a hub of innovation, resilience, and opportunity. We must all work together to protect its image and promote unity, not division,” he added.
