This action comes in the wake of Senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo’s claim that Senate President Godswill Akpabio orchestrated his removal, along with that of other senators, including the former Chief Whip Kalu, following the nullification of Abbo’s election by the Court of Appeal.

In response, COSEYL issued a statement through its President General, Goodluck Ibem, asserting that any move against Kalu is a direct assault on the collective interests of the Igbo people, and they fully support the mandate given to him by their constituents.

The coalition expressed its concern over how certain political figures appear to have influenced the judiciary to undermine the victories of duly elected leaders.

COSEYL called upon the judiciary to remain impartial, emphasizing that the nation’s democracy relies on an unbiased judicial system.

They warned against the sinister plot and urged all Nigerians to defend democracy, which they believe is on the brink of collapsing due to the self-serving interests of a few individuals who act as if they are emperors in a democratic society.
