At a press conference in Abuja, Egbetokun detailed that several police officers were injured by individuals posing as protesters. He also noted that some police stations were set ablaze by rioters.

Egbetokun characterized the day’s events in major cities as “mass uprisings and looting” rather than legitimate protests. He criticized the protest leaders for not being present to manage the rallies, leading to a takeover by hoodlums.

He reported significant violence, including attacks on police stations and attempts to seize government buildings, particularly in the FCT, Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe. One officer was killed and others were seriously injured.

In response to the escalating situation, the Nigeria Police Force has placed all units on red alert, with officers fully mobilized and ready to respond quickly and effectively to maintain public safety and order.
