IGP Disu Rewards Senior Officers With Fresh Promotions, Decorates 30 Top Cops

The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has formally decorated 30 senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force following their recent promotions, with 13 elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and 17 promoted as Commissioners of Police (CP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The decoration ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Addressing the newly promoted officers, the IGP urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and integrity, warning against corruption, abuse of office and other forms of misconduct.

Disu described the promotions as a major career milestone, saying they reflected the officers’ dedication, resilience and commitment to service.

“I expect you to lead with uncompromising integrity, with no tolerance for misconduct, abuse of office or corruption,” he said.

He further charged the officers to lead by example, noting that junior personnel would look up to them and emulate their conduct.

The police chief also called on them to combine firmness with compassion in the discharge of their duties.

“I also expect you to lead with humanity. The officers under your command are watching not only what you demand of them but how you support and protect them. A force that takes care of its personnel is one they will defend with loyalty,” Disu said.

The IGP stressed the need for the Nigeria Police Force to continue evolving into a modern, intelligence-led and technology-driven institution while remaining committed to its primary responsibility of safeguarding lives and property.

He also encouraged the newly promoted officers to mentor younger colleagues, helping them develop professionally and prepare for future leadership roles.

“Public confidence is not built through public relations but through action. It can be the difference between receiving information that saves lives and silence that costs them. I urge you to guide those coming behind you with honesty, patience and commitment,” he said.

Disu acknowledged the sacrifices made by the officers’ families, noting that they had endured long periods of separation, difficult postings and other challenges associated with police service.

He reminded the officers that their new positions come with greater responsibility and urged them to serve in a way that would inspire the next generation of police personnel.

“You earned these promotions. Somewhere today, a young officer hopes to one day attain your rank. Lead in a manner worthy of that aspiration,” the IGP stated.

In his closing remarks, Disu urged the officers to wear their new ranks with humility, pride and a renewed sense of duty.

The newly decorated Assistant Inspectors-General of Police are Obono Nnaghe Itam, Bassey Samuel Ewah, Osagie John Agans-Irabor, Monday Agbonika, Iyamah Daniel Edobor, Isah Danladi Nda, Akaninyene Ifebem Ezima, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, Bello Rashid Afegbua, Hycenth Azuka Edozie, Haruna Alaba Yahaya, Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, and Betty Enekpen Otimenyin.

The newly promoted Commissioners of Police are Nelson Nwamanna, Bolanle Aremu Murtala, Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, Ajayi Oluyemi, Rita Oyintare Oki, Iya Umar Mohammed, Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu, Nurudeen A. Sabo, Tijani Murtala, Yakubu Mohammed, Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, Akingbade C. Adeyinka, Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, Samuel Erale Etaifo, Taiwo A. Adedeji, Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura, and Zainab Audu Pembi.
