According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, retired AIG Philip Sule Maku, who held notable positions including Commissioner of Police in Bauchi and Ebonyi States and later as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), passed away on August 23, 2024.

The statement also confirmed that CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara, who served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the State Criminal Investigations Department in Lagos State before becoming Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, died on August 28 after a brief illness.

“The unwavering commitment of these senior officers to service and integrity will always be remembered. Their passing represents a significant loss to their families and the entire Nigeria Police Force. Their contributions have left a lasting impact on everyone they served,” the statement noted.
