Following complaints by the Labour Party and other concerned parties about the CP’s bias, the Nigeria Labour Congress demanded his removal after the assault on its president, Joe Ajaero, in Owerri last Wednesday.

Responding to the redeployment request, Egbetokun stated on a Channels Television program on Sunday night that the Nigeria Police Force had finalized arrangements for the CP’s transfer.

Egbetokun clarified, “We are aware of the allegations against the Commissioner of Police in Imo. Ahead of the elections, we will be changing the CP. This isn’t an admission of guilt against the CP.

However, for the sake of impartiality, we are changing the Commissioner of Police in Imo State.”
