Protesters converged at Ikeja Underbridge, Lagos, on the morning of Wednesday, June 12, coinciding with the country’s observance of the 2024 Democracy Day.

Chanting solidarity songs and brandishing placards and banners, the demonstrators voiced their grievances.

Among the messages on the placards were: “President Tinubu, Let the Poor Breathe,” “Demanding Another General Strike with Mass Protest Now,” and “Urgent Call for Payment of Living Wage to All Nigerian Workers.”

The venue saw a significant presence of security personnel, including police officers and officials from the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, stationed close to the protesters, ensuring orderliness.
