Wike stated that his position is rooted in principle rather than any expectation of benefits.
The former Governor of Rivers State noted that his political stance has remained consistent since 2023, adding that if his intention were self-serving, he would have stepped down from his current role to pursue his own presidential ambition.
He stressed that his involvement in politics is not about personal victory but about contributing to the country’s development.
Speaking during a media chat at his Abuja residence, Wike maintained that his support for the President is not tied to any form of reward, insisting that Nigerians are already aware of his position since the last election cycle.
He further remarked that if he were interested in political manoeuvring for personal gain, he could easily resign and contest for the presidency.
In a related development, Wike also commented on the situation within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that the party should accept the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concerning its leadership.
His remarks followed INEC’s removal of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official records as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.
