Political Tension: Gov. Otti Warns Of Alleged Move To Undermine His Administration

The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has raised concerns over an alleged plan by certain political actors to sponsor protests aimed at undermining his administration and creating instability in the state.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma.

According to the statement, intelligence reports suggest that some individuals are recruiting miscreants from Aba and nearby states to organise a protest reportedly themed “Tinubu Dey Work, Otti Dey Chop.”

Ekeoma described the planned demonstration as an attempt to spread misleading claims that ongoing projects in the state are being funded by the Federal Government. He maintained that the state government had previously clarified that federal reimbursements for such projects are no longer in place.

The government also advised parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against participating in politically motivated protests that could put their safety at risk.

It further assured residents of its commitment to maintaining peace, security, and a political environment that allows individuals to pursue their ambitions freely without intimidation.

The statement warned that the alleged plan could lead to clashes between protesters and security operatives, particularly members of the state task force in Aba, potentially resulting in violence, casualties, and a breakdown of law and order.

It added that such actions may be part of broader efforts to destabilise the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

While reaffirming its commitment to democratic values and tolerance of opposition, the government stressed that it would take firm action against any individuals or groups attempting to threaten public safety under the guise of political activity.
