In a statement shared via his Instagram story, Kuti alleged that Nwoko’s actions had inflicted “pain and fear” on his community. He claimed that the politician nearly caused the death of the village king and attempted to seize communal land through force.

Kuti further accused Nwoko of orchestrating the prolonged detention of nine young men from the area, who were allegedly imprisoned for years under false terrorism charges.

Describing the situation as “pure wickedness,” Kuti expressed shock that someone of Nwoko’s stature could engage in such acts.

He also said he found it troubling that actress Regina Daniels, Nwoko’s wife, chose to remain with him despite these alleged misdeeds.

However, Kuti clarified that he does not entirely blame her, pointing instead to Nigeria’s poor economic conditions, which he said often push young women into difficult choices.

According to him, the failures of the nation have created an environment where people tolerate injustice for the sake of survival and comfort.

He wrote:

“Old men everywhere like Regina Daniels’ husband. Regina married such a man despite the wickedness he has shown his community.
He almost killed the king of his village and tried to take the community’s land by force.
He was so cruel that he jailed nine boys for years on false terrorism charges.
I don’t blame her; I blame the country. If Nigeria were better, young girls wouldn’t have to end up in such situations.”
