On Sunday, the Police Command in Imo State successfully thwarted an attack on the Njaba Local Government Area Divisional Police Headquarters in Umuakah.
According to ASP Henry Okoye, the command’s spokesperson, the operation resulted in the neutralization of three attackers. The assailants arrived in three SUVs and launched a violent assault on the police headquarters with gunfire.
Okoye reported that the police quickly assumed defensive positions and engaged the attackers, leading to the elimination of three of them. The remaining assailants, who were injured during the confrontation, escaped into nearby bushes.
During the operation, the police recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun, an AK-47 rifle, and three vehicles: a Toyota Lexus 470, a Mercedes GLK, and a Toyota Venza.
An ongoing intensive operation, spearheaded by Commissioner of Police Mr. Aboki Danjuma, aims to capture the fleeing suspects and ensure justice is served. Okoye highlighted that Danjuma praised the operatives for their bravery and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to strengthening internal security in the state.
“The command remains resolute in taking decisive action against any threats to public peace,” Okoye concluded.
