Imo Police Commissioner Visits Explosion Site, Promises Justice For PerpetratorsThe Imo State Police Commissioner has visited the site of a bomb explosion in International Market, Orlu LGA, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

Confirming the visit, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Henry Okoye issued a statement revealing that the Police Commissioner emphasized the need to thoroughly investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.

The explosion occurred on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at around 12:40 p.m., killing two young men suspected to be involved in orchestrating the blast. According to the police, the suspects died while attempting to carry out the attack, which ultimately backfired on them.

Additionally, two passersby were injured in the explosion and were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased individuals may have been linked to previous IED attacks in Omuma and Orlu communities on November 3, 2024, which left two citizens injured. The police are continuing their investigations to confirm their role in these earlier incidents.

In response to the bombing, Imo State Police Commissioner, CP Aboki Danjuma, visited the scene alongside Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operatives for an on-site assessment. The Commissioner expressed sympathy for the injured and assured the public that all remaining explosive devices had been cleared from the area. He also announced heightened security measures to prevent future incidents.

CP Danjuma urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity or objects to local police or via the command’s emergency line, 0803 477 3600. He reassured the community that efforts would continue to bring the attackers to justice.
