Imo State Tragedy: Security Personnel Responding To Fake Distress Call Ambushed, Resulting In Loss Of Lives

Adejobi stated, “The security agents affected by this senseless act of violence included Police Officers, Military personnel, members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
They were diligently responding to a distress call from the area, which ultimately proved to be false and was intended to lure them into the ambush.”
Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, assured the public that the police are fully committed to collaborating closely with other relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation into this heinous act, while relentlessly pursuing justice.
Egbetokun emphasized that the Force would intensify its efforts to bring the culprits to justice and ensure the safety of our officers and the security of our communities.
He earnestly urged the public to remain calm and vigilant while extending their cooperation to law enforcement agencies in the collective pursuit of peace and order in Imo State and other parts of the country.
Furthermore, Egbetokun has ordered a crackdown on non-state actors following the recent attack, and he expressed condolences and prayers to the families of the fallen heroes. He pledged that the sacrifices made by their loved ones will not be in vain.
Egbetokun concluded by saying, “The NPF encourages anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and actively assist in the investigative process, or alternatively, provide information anonymously through the NPF Social Media.
