Ezekwesili, who is the founder of the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG), cited data to support her assertion that the current state of affairs in African nations does not align with the envisioned development.

She conveyed this message during the Africa Conference held as part of the SPPG Class of 2023 graduation ceremony in Abuja.

Ezekwesili called for an immediate overhaul of the political structure in Africa, urging leaders of thought across the government, private sector, and civil society to embark on this transformative journey.

She remarked, “Africa has chosen the path of democracy, and historical data shows that more prosperous countries have emerged through democratic means. Therefore, democracy is of paramount importance as it brings political freedom, which, in turn, establishes the rule of law, a cornerstone of economic freedom.”
