He described the timing as inappropriate and accused the electoral body of acting in a questionable manner.

Baba-Ahmed made the comments during an interview with Symfoni, where he urged Nigerians to reflect on the circumstances surrounding the election result declaration.

He said, “I keep saying, and I sometimes wonder, we Nigerians, why do we just take everything to pass?”

“How can an INEC chairman promise African leaders, including Nelson Mandela’s younger brother, Thabo Mbeki, that he would announce the election result by 9 am but sneaked and did the announcement by 4 am?”

He argued that an electoral body announcing results at such an hour raises serious concerns that should not be ignored.

According to him, “Isn’t this person a thief? Isn’t he a crook to announce results by 4 a.m.? This is wrong.”

Baba-Ahmed added that, despite his objections, the outcome of the election has already been concluded.

He also criticised President Bola Tinubu, saying he is leading a government that emerged from what he described as a flawed process.

He said, “And how can you shamelessly be leading a government that was announced at 4 a.m.? Who works at 4 a.m.? Criminals!”

He concluded by stating that INEC should not have announced the election result at that time, insisting that the action was unacceptable.
