The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has announced that the party has recorded a surge in membership following a statement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on April 1.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He claimed that over 500,000 new members joined the party within hours of INEC’s announcement, despite the commission’s decision to derecognize two party factions led by Nafiu Bala Gombe and David Mark.

In a post shared on X, Abdullahi said the party continued to gain traction following INEC’s move, noting that from 7:00 p.m. on April 1 to 5:00 p.m. the following day, more than half a million Nigerians had reportedly joined the ADC.

He also referenced an earlier post made on Thursday, where he claimed that over 40,000 people registered with the party within hours after INEC’s announcement, through its online registration platform.

During a press briefing, the ADC accused INEC of misinterpreting a Court of Appeal judgment and called for the removal of the commission’s chairman, Joash Amupitan.

The party further alleged that INEC had become partisan and could no longer be trusted, describing its actions as unlawful.

However, INEC defended its position, stating that its decision was based on the Court of Appeal ruling and was aimed at upholding the rule of law.
