Eze spoke on Wednesday in Abuja during a business grant programme organised by his foundation, where he reflected on the period he was under investigation.

He described the experience as emotionally challenging, noting that it was difficult for him to understand why he was being probed despite his belief that he had done nothing wrong.

According to him, the situation weighed heavily on him, particularly during his early morning routines for church programmes, where he often felt overwhelmed while trying to process the developments and seek spiritual comfort.

The pastor also said he confided in close associates during that period as he struggled to make sense of the situation and find reassurance.

Despite the emotional strain, Eze said he eventually felt relieved after the conclusion of the investigation. He explained that the EFCC, after reviewing his financial records, found no evidence of wrongdoing.

Recalling the period, he said he often expressed his confusion and distress to colleagues, questioning why he was being investigated. He also shared that he relied heavily on prayer during the ordeal.

Eze added that following the conclusion of the probe, he was grateful that the commission cleared him of any wrongdoing.

His remarks come after EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede disclosed that the agency had launched a six-month investigation into the cleric based on intelligence reports suggesting significant inflows of foreign currency into accounts linked to him.

Olukoyede explained that the EFCC examined the transactions, traced their sources, and invited Eze for questioning, where he provided explanations linking the funds to his ministry and charitable activities.

He further stated that after a thorough review, no criminal offence was established, and the commission subsequently cleared the pastor while advising continued transparency in financial dealings.
