In a statement issued on Wednesday and jointly signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, and National Organising Secretary, Theophilus Dakas Shan, the PDP disclosed that the sale of nomination forms will now close on May 15, 2026.

The party further stated that completed forms must now be submitted on or before May 18, 2026, while the screening of aspirants has been scheduled for May 19, 2026.

Under the revised timetable, aspirants contesting for National and State Assembly positions will undergo screening in their respective states, while governorship and presidential aspirants will be screened in Abuja.

According to the party, the adjustment was approved by the Interim National Working Committee following appeals and requests from stakeholders and aspirants nationwide.

Meanwhile, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Bolaji Abdullahi, has revealed that opposition parties are still considering the possibility of fielding a single presidential candidate to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Wednesday, Abdullahi admitted that the departure of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from the ADC represents a major setback, not only for the party but for the broader opposition movement.

He noted that a united opposition would stand a stronger chance against the incumbent administration.

Despite the recent developments, Abdullahi maintained that the opposition coalition remains active and committed to unseating Tinubu and the APC in 2027.

He added that consultations and negotiations among opposition leaders are still ongoing in a bid to produce a consensus presidential candidate capable of confronting the ruling party at the polls.
