Inside Political Twist: Gbajabiamila Counters Defection, Tells Abejide To ‘Fight From Within ADC

Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has advised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Representatives member, Leke Abejide, to remain in the party.

He made the remark during a birthday celebration held in honour of the lawmaker.

According to Gbajabiamila, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is pleased with Abejide’s activities within the ADC, describing him as someone causing internal disruption in the party.

He also urged the lawmaker not to heed calls from APC members, including former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, who reportedly encouraged him to defect to the ruling party.

Gbajabiamila said, “Don’t come to APC. Stay in ADC and scatter them. We like what you’re doing. Don’t mind former governor Yahaya Bello, who said you should join APC.

“No, no, no, stay in ADC and win your election. Also, bring Bala Gombe, and we’ll support him. Good luck in court.”

Meanwhile, tensions within the ADC have taken a new turn as factional leader Nafiu Bala accused former national chairman Ralph Nwosu of misleading him into attending a major party event.

Speaking in an interview on AIT on Monday, Bala said he was invited to what he believed was a routine meeting to welcome new members into the party.

However, he claimed he later discovered that the gathering was actually used to announce a new leadership structure headed by David Mark.

Bala explained that he only realised the full scope of the event after proceedings had begun, adding that it also featured the resignation of Nwosu and the unveiling of new party executives.

He described the development as a significant moment in the ongoing leadership crisis within the ADC, noting that the emergence of new leadership figures during the event had raised concerns among some stakeholders.
